The journey of gathering first-hand information and writing about the country was like a vacation for me, because the subject is amazing and very interesting to write about. It was truly my pleasure making and building this site for me and for my visitors.


Costa Rica is located in Central America that has unlimited tourist potential and is ranked as one of the most visited international destinations. The country's one of the main sources of income is tourism.

The country is a democratic and peaceful and it has not had an army since the year 1949. The population of the country is 4.1 million and a life expectancy of almost 77 years, one of the highest in the world. There are 801 miles (1290 km) of coastline.

The citizens are affectionately called Tico’s and Tica’s. In all of Latin America, the Tico’s are most like North American’s in their thought process.

There are many different stunning and beautiful beaches, each with unique different settings. Even on nearby beaches the sand can vary from white, black, or brown coloration. Some beaches are full of shells or scattered with rocks; others are soft with fluffy fine sand. Some of the beaches are fantastic for swimming and others are better for surfing.


The visitors can enjoy lovely tropical beaches, the grandest adventures, the wonders of nature, and all the necessary components of an ideal vocations.


The country is gifted with two coasts, one of them is the Pacific, and the other is the Caribbean and along these picturesque coasts rests many quality beach resorts.

Costa Rica is surrounded by three different bodies of water including the Panama Canal on the southeast, the Pacific Ocean on the southwest and west and the Caribbean Ocean on the east. Because of countries close proximity to several bodies of water; it is an ideal stopping point for various cruise ships carrying throngs of adventurous Costa Rica vacationers.

There are many destinations which have rainforest walking trails. It has many mountain springs and hundreds of cascading waterfalls can be found throughout the rainforests and mountainous areas.

Because of the country’s diverse climate, the country is home to 850 species of birds, 205 species of mammals, 9,000 species of flowering plants, 1,200 species of orchids and 376 species of reptiles and amphibians.

Many waterfalls are unknown or remain closed to the public, but many breath-taking ones make great destinations for a day hike and refreshing afternoon swim. With the help of a local naturalist guide, you can discover the magnificent and wonderful world within. The country is big on water related activities. Wave riders come to Costa Rica from all over the world to test out their expertise in waters. Both the Pacific and Atlantic coasts offer up some notorious surfing.

On the Atlantic Coast, Puerto Viejo's Salsa Brava gets some great breaks during the winter months although this area is often crowded. On the Pacific side, Playa Hermosa is the most consistent place to catch some waves.

Wind surfers have nothing but praise for Lake Arenal, it is considered one of the world's best wind surfing spots and on good days you can cruise over 25 miles across the lake.

There might not be anything more romantic when you're on a vacation with the one you love than enjoying a horseback ride, whether it’s on the beach or through a National Park, the experience is sure to be memorable.

There are hundreds of volcanic formations that run along the Volcanic Corridor from Guanacaste, in the north, to the border of Panama in the south. Many volcanoes are dormant and in remote locations- great for a day trip.

Costa Rica vacations are more than a vacation destination; it is an interactive sensory experience. The country is blessed with an intense array of biodiversity and environmental attractions - majestic volcanoes, misty cloud forests, stunning river valleys, and many beaches along the Pacific and Caribbean coasts - it carries a fascinating ecological story, woven into the history of a peaceful and family-orientated culture.

There are many National parks and they are its greatest glory. It has a stunning variety of landscapes, microclimates, and flora and fauna. The nature lovers will not be disappointed by the superb wildlife viewing.

If you make a trip to the Monteverde Cloud Forest it will almost guarantee a sighting of country's most famous bird, the Quetzal. The Rain Forest Aerial Tram is located out of San Jose, the capital, and offers a guided canopy tour of the rain forest. Manuel Antonio Park is teeming with monkeys and other wildlife. The Tortuguera is Costa Rica's most famous protected nesting area.

There are many other popular outdoor activities to be enjoyed while you’re in Costa Rica vacations, includes; hiking, mountain biking, deep sea fishing, bungee jumping, sailing, bird watching and ballooning. More adventurous activities include repelling down through the centre of waterfalls, canopy tours through the tropical trees and white water rafting.

If you are not a fan of outdoor activities, don't worry, there are plenty to do and see when you're on your Costa Rica vacations. The National Museum traces Costa Rica's colourful history and culture. The museum was founded in 1887 and is located in San Jose. Patrons of the arts should try and catch one of many performance put on at the National Theatre. The National Theatre offers classical music and opera performances in addition to others.

Visitors looking for an active holiday in Costa Rica are spoilt for choices.

It is also an attractive country for investment and it offers great potential for the establishment of important multinational companies, thanks to the outstanding academic level of its population, as well as the high standard of modern services and social and political stability.

The locals welcome foreigners with open arms making the country one of the most desirable vacation and retirement spots in the world. It is for these and many other reasons that Costa Rica vacations are a must...the memories will last a lifetime.

Christmas to New Years can be a challenging time to travel. Hotels are booked months in advance and public transportation operates on a restricted schedule.
