Car Rental Costa Rica - Renting a car in Costa Rica is a relatively straightforward process. Tourists need only show their passport, a valid photo driving licence from their home country and an internationally accepted credit card (Visa or MasterCard) in order to hire a car for the duration of their visitor’s permit.

Unsurprisingly, as it’s the entry point for the vast majority of visitors, San Jose is home to most of the country’s car hire firms, with numerous offices located both at the airport and downtown (there are several along the Paseo Colon).

There are also offices in Liberia, site of the country’s other international airport, as well some of the country’s other major tourist destinations, including Quepos and Jaco and Tamarindo. It’s also possible to hire car through many of San Jose’s tour operators, as well as some of its major hotels.
